Oil and Acrylics on Canvas

Around 1986 I started branching out from my watercolors. Eager for new challenges, I started experimenting with large scale abstracts on canvas. Over the course of five or so years, I executed over a hundred abstract pieces. Now, twenty years later, I am revisiting abstract work on canvas. Some might say I've come full circle, but to me it's more of full helix. I am back at a beginning, but with all the experiences of the last twenty years. My Pastel work has definitely influenced this new body of work, because , as always, it's about color and composition.
Below are some of my new Oil and Acrylics.
I love everything about this kind of work. The scale, the colors, the ability to paint from light to dark and then dark to light....the balance between technique and passion.
For me, these are truly examples of abstract expressionism and studied spontanaiety
